A City of Pittsburgh Electrical Contractor License is preferred (Registered Electrician).  <strong><em>(Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.) </em></strong></li><li><strong>EDUCATION/TRAINING</strong>: The application must clearly show a high school diploma or equivalent. </li><li><strong>EQUIVALENCY</strong>:  Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position<strong><em> (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above)</em></strong>.  The Total Qualifying Requirement is four (<strong>4</strong>) years.</li></ul> If you meet the qualifying requirements listed above, you will be sent a letter of admission (when applicable) for the following examination(s).  You must pass the written and/or performance examination(s) in order to have your name placed on the official Civil Service eligibility list for this position.  Candidates who receive job offers must pass a medical examination (when applicable) prior to start date.<br><br><ul><li><strong><u>Written</u></strong>:  None required for this position.</li><li><strong><u>Performance</u></strong>:  None required for this position.</li><li><strong><u>Medical</u></strong>:  Required.</li></ul><ul><li>Installs, repairs, maintains and modifies all lighting and power circuits, fixtures, controls, motors, pumps and equipment that is operated from all voltage levels (e.g., signal equipment, pumps, lighting, fire alarms, instrumentation, etc.).</li><li>Performs electrical inspections for preventive maintenance.</li><li>Determines type and size wire, conduits, fixtures, boxes, etc., and proper voltage and overload protection necessary.</li><li>Modifies existing circuits, fittings, etc., to accommodate new and modern fixtures, equipment and controls.</li><li>Lubricates and maintains electrical motors, switchgear and related equipment.</li><li>Maintains records and prepares accurate reports as requested or required.</li><li>May install and maintain solid state circuits to control remote pumps, transmit status and analog data, etc.</li><li>May drive a City vehicle.</li><li>Uses a variety of technological hardware (i.e., computers, laptops, tablets, smart phones, GPS, cameras, etc.) and/or software (i.e., email, Cartegraph, Microsoft Office, etc.) to maintain records and prepare accurate reports on work performed.</li><li>Performs activities and functions of related lower-level personnel as assigned or required.</li><li>Performs such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.</li><li>May work all three shifts, weekends and holidays.</li></ul>
